Using Instructional Gaming to Teach STEM Education
Presentation - 2013 Summer Faculty Institute
The Summer Faculty Institute is held every summer at CCAC in Monreoville, Pennsylvania. I took a topic that I had co-authored a chapter on, and adapted a presentation for the faculty there. The presentation takes all four STEM areas and instructs one on how to integrate video games into the curriculum. Examples of usable lesson plans were showcased/

Online Environments: CIT 107 Microsoft Word
In the summer of 2013, I taught my first online class. I created a usable lesson plan with assignments and made appropriate assessments. I also created online learning modules every week for each chapter being taught (using the program Camtasia). I also required weekly forum contributions from the students. I used a variety of tools in order to create a favorable online learning environment.

Video Gaming for STEM Education
Hyatt, K. J., Barron, J. L., & Noakes, M. A. (2013). Video Gaming for STEM Education. In H. Yang, & S. Wang (Eds.), Cases on E-Learning Management: Development and Implementation (pp. 103-117). Hershey, PA: Information Science Reference. doi:10.4018/978-1-4666-1933-3.ch005
This is the chapter that inspired the presentation I made above. It was co-authored with a classmate and a former instructor. Within this chapter, we explored the concepts of STEM education and how video games could help foster interest and improve learning in STEM. This was my first experience creating something that was peer-reviewed, and I was interested in the process as much as the topic itself.
